RFE Yearbook: Everything You Need to Know and How You Can Help

The image features the word "YEARBOOK" written in large, bold, overlapping letters. Each letter is a different bright color, including blue, yellow, red, and green, creating a vibrant, multicolored effect. The overlapping of the letters gives a slightly transparent and layered appearance. The background is plain white, which makes the colorful text stand out prominently.

Happy Back-to-School Fox Families!

It feels like we were just passing out yearbooks and signing them–so it’s hard to believe we are talking about the 2024/2025 yearbook already. We start the yearbook on the first day of school because our Back-to-School section is one of the largest in the book!

Yearbook FAQs

We also wanted to share a few Yearbook FAQs below for our newest families or anyone with questions about the yearbook process.

  1. Who makes the yearbook? The PTA is responsible for compiling and designing the yearbook, so it is completely a volunteer job. We do work with the school to try and be present for large school events, but our photographs are mostly provided by you, the parents, from our PTA-sponsored events. We do our best to remind you to email in photos after events like Fall Fest, Fund Run, Trunk or Treat, Spirit Days, etc. We can NOT take photos from social media posts and have them printed in the yearbook, so posting on the PTA or RFE Facebook page is not the same as submitting a photo for the yearbook.
  2. Who takes the individual student photos in the yearbook? The individual photos come to us from fall school photos taken by Lifetouch; however, we have no control over when they are taken or when things are sent to us. Please be sure to double-check names and spelling on your Lifetouch communications to be sure they have your child’s name spelled correctly. If your child misses the fall photos and the retakes, we try our best to include them, but it can’t be guaranteed. If your child has a retake photo with Lifetouch, please be sure to reach out to us to let us know so we can be on the lookout for the photo you would prefer to be featured.
  3. Why aren’t there more photos of the students during school? Teachers do send us photos to use, as well as pictures from assemblies, field trips, and such. However, we would never want to add another responsibility to the teachers and staff’s plates or take away from instruction time. There are also parents who ask for their children not to be included in photos like those, and having the parents send photos directly to us reduces the chance we include someone who wouldn’t be happy about those photos.
  4. I emailed in a photo, but it wasn’t included. Why? There are only a few reasons why your photo may not have been included in the yearbook in the past. One could just be user error–there are hundreds of photos to sort, organize, and upload, so it’s possible that a mistake was made. Most likely, though, the photo was too small or not good enough quality, and the software wouldn’t accept it. This sometimes happens when photos are screenshots from social media or sent over text and not the original photo size. Lastly, we have a contract for the amount of pages we are allowed to print, and sometimes we have to limit how many times one student can be featured to make sure that we can include as many different students as possible.
  5. Why are some students on multiple pages? Every homeroom class gets their own page with individual portraits from Lifetouch (and hopefully class photos, too, when the deadlines allow). However, if you see a student at multiple events, that is because their parents emailed those photos to the yearbook.
  6. Why aren’t there many spring or end-of-the-year events in the yearbook? Our yearbooks are distributed before the last day of school, meaning the deadline for us to get them printed is usually in early April.

We hope this helps with any questions you may have! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have others throughout the year, and be on the lookout for yearbook communications at www.rfepta.com and on Facebook.
